Advancing Edge Intelligence
Through Human-Centered Systems

The Resilient Intelligent Sensing & Edge Internet of Thing (RISE-IoT) initiative brings together researchers, industry partners, and public-sector stakeholders to shape the next generation of intelligent, secure, and human-centered edge systems. This inaugural workshop will align technical capabilities, application needs, and testbed strategies to lay the groundwork for future center-scale research efforts.

Core Technical Focus Areas:

Neuromorphic Sensing, NextG Connectivity, Hardware-Software Co-Design, Federated Learning
Faculty Leadership: Dr. Cindy Yang Yi, Dr. Lingjia Liu, Dr. Peter Vikesland
Workshop Details
April 3, 2026
9:30am – 4:00pm
Virginia Tech
3625 Potomac Ave
Alexandria, VA

Application Domains:

Environmental Monitoring, Automotive & Mobility, Smart Health Workforce Development, Education & Training, Precision Agriculture

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Identify a focused set of shared research thrusts suitable for center-scale and multi-investigator funding opportunities
  • Align technical priorities across sensing, communication, learning, and systems design to support convergent research
